Governor Appoints Shaundeep “Shaun” Wahid to Stanislaus County Superior Court
The Superior Court of California, County of Stanislaus, is pleased to announce the appointment of Shaundeep “Shaun” Wahid to serve as a Judge of the Stanislaus County Superior Court. Governor Gavin Newsom announced the appointment to fill the vacancy created by the passing of Judge Shawn D. Bessey.
Wahid currently serves as Chief Deputy County Counsel for Stanislaus County, a position he has held since 2023. He previously served as Deputy County Counsel from 2021 to 2023 and as a Deputy Public Defender from 2012 to 2021. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law.
“Shaun Wahid brings extensive courtroom experience, sound judgment, and a deep commitment to public service,” said Presiding Judge Kellee C. Westbrook. “Throughout his legal career, he has demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and dedication to the residents of Stanislaus County. We are pleased to welcome him to the bench and look forward to the contributions he will make in service to our community.”
Wahid expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve. “It is an extraordinary honor to be appointed to the Stanislaus County Superior Court,” said Wahid. “I am grateful to Governor Newsom for his confidence in me and thankful to my family, mentors, colleagues, and the many people who have supported me throughout my career. I look forward to serving the people of Stanislaus County with fairness, impartiality, and respect for the rule of law.”
Judge Wahid will begin his service to the Court on August 3, 2026. The Court will announce additional details regarding Judge Wahid’s judicial assignment and investiture ceremony once those arrangements have been finalized.
