The Registrar of Voters and/or the Secretary of State may be able to resolve your issues without court intervention.

Requests for Judicial Relief

To request judicial relief regarding an election-related issue, please review the following:

Requests filed in Civil Division Clerk’s Office: You may file requests for judicial relief in the Civil Division Clerk’s Office located at 801 10th Street, 4th Floor, Modesto. The Clerk’s Office will be open from 8:15 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 3, 2025, and Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
Options for Filing Requests for Relief: On Monday, November 3, 2025, and Tuesday, November 4, 2025, for election related relief only, the Court will allow all parties to file documents over the counter. You may also e-file your documents online at https://www.stanislaus.courts.ca.gov/forms-filing/e-filing.
Filing Fee Information: You will be required to pay a filing fee of $435.00 at the time you file a request for election related relief. You may pay by cash, personal check, or credit card. If you qualify, the court may grant a request for a filing fee waiver. For more information regarding filing fee waivers, please visit https://www.courts.ca.gov/selfhelp-feewaiver.htm.
Requests for Expedited/Ex Parte Hearings: Parties will be expected to follow, as much as is possible, Stanislaus County Superior Court Local Rule 3.01 and California Rules of Court, rule 3.1203 related to notice of expedited/ex parte hearings.
After Hours Requests for Judicial Relief: To request election-related judicial relief after 5:00 p.m., on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, please contact (209) 530-3234.
Attendance at After-Hours Hearings: Only the parties and their legal representatives should plan to attend a hearing for immediate election relief scheduled after regular court business hours. Hearings will be streamed live on the Court’s YouTube account. Links for viewing the proceedings via YouTube are available on the Court’s website https://www.stanislaus.courts.ca.gov.
